Shumate gathered their adult students for an eclectic recital.
These two long-time teachers had students perform that have studied for
a few months up to many years. Maria had some of her "alumni" return
for special performances, showing some of the new-comers what can
happen if you stick with it.
The students played organ, digital piano, acoustic piano and even the
classical organ. The folding wall of the recital hall was opened to allow for
the organ to be heard (and seen) as part of the evenings festivities.
Though the students varied from beginner to advanced and everywhere
in-between, the common thread amongst them all was their love of making
music, and it showed.
The evening ended with an organ and piano duet accompanying the
group singing of "God Bless America."
